What is Aim for the Brain?
Aim for the Brain is the premiere zombie whacking game for AppleŐs iPod Touch and iPhone. ItŐs up to you to tap the zombies in the head (Aiming for the Brain is the only way to dispatch the undead) while avoiding the civilians trapped in this zombie nightmare. Aim for the Brain is made by zombie fans, for zombie fans, and anyone else who loves simple but fun arcade style games.
My game is running slow or is crashing. Are zombies eating my iPod or iPhone?
Rest assured, your iPod Touch or iPhone is safe from the zombie hordes when not running the game. If you experience slowdown or app crashing you may need to reboot your device. Powering down and powering back up will usually fix these issues so you can resume fighting off the undead at your leisure.
Why isnŐt there any sound?
Be sure that your iPhone isnŐt set to vibrate-only mode. In vibrate-only mode, the gameŐs audio will be muted.
I'm at the Main Menu, what now? (How to start a game)
á Choose Play Game to go to the level selection screen
o Select a difficulty using the bottom left button (defaults to Normal)
o Difficulty determines the length of the round, how tough zombies are to hit, the maximum multiplier you can achieve during a round, and the number of civilian casualties you can take before the round is over. Ace zombie hunters can potentially rack up huge scores on higher difficulty levels, but only if you can keep your zombie smashing streak going.
o Select a level (The Cemetery, The Alleyway, or The Hospital) and either double-tap the level button or tap Play to start the game.
á Choose Quickplay to start a 40 second quick round on a random level.
á Choose Options to go to the options screen where you can turn the music and sound on and off. You can also turn Gore off, which replaces blood splats with comical hit effects.
á Choose Scoreboard to view your high scores in all levels and difficulties. Compare with friends to prove that youŐre the zombie smasher to beat.
á Choose Help for a quick overview of How to Play Aim For the Brain.
á Choose Info for game credits and developer links.
Note: the back button will take you back to the Main Menu in most screens. Tapping the screen once in the Help or Info screens will take you back to the Main Menu.
Gameplay
á The goal of Aim for the Brain is to smash as many zombie brains as possible in the time limit allotted. Time is determined by the difficulty chosen.
á The undead can only be stopped by smashing them in the brain. Attacking them elsewhere will not hurt them. You only receive maximum points and bonuses by Aiming for the Brain!
á As the level progresses, civilians (outlined in yellow) trapped in the zombie nightmare will appear. You must not hit them in the head, or you risk ending the round. The number of civilian casualties allowed is determined by the difficulty chosen at the start of the level.
á If you smash enough zombies in a row you earn bonus score multipliers. The maximum multiplier and how many zombies you must smash to reach the next multiplier is determined by difficulty (up to 8x in Hard mode). Letting a zombie escape without smashing it, or accidentally hitting a civilian resets the multiplier to 1x.
á Watch for Super Zombies that randomly appear throughout the level. Hit them for bonus points!
á The last ten seconds of the round really amps up the action, so get ready for zombie overdrive!
á The Pause menu in the lower right corner allows you to pause the action to take care of non-zombie related tasks or quit to the Main Menu to change your settings.
á New high scores are saved in the scoreboard screen so you can brag to your friends about what an awesome zombie hunter you are.
What are your tips for becoming a better Zombie Hunter?
á Be quick and steady. Light, accurate taps usually work best when fighting off the undead.
á The star-shaped touch icon is useful in gauging your accuracy. Watch where you tap and use the star to your advantage if you feel you arenŐt hitting zombies accurately enough.
á ItŐs possible to hit zombies multiple times to increase your score, possibly at the risk of missing other zombies and losing your multiplier. However, hitting civilians more than once is a sure way to quickly lose the round.
Hey! I updated the game and my High Scores got reset!
There appears to be a rare bug in the App Store update system where installing an update to an app may randomly delete an existing appŐs data files. This problem appears to be rare, but it does happen sometimes.
